Anti-aircraft bullets from Syria hit watch tower in Turkey’s southeast

Anti-aircraft gun bullets fired from Syria have hit a watch tower in Turkey’s southeastern province of Hatay, the Turkish General Staff has announced. 

In a written statement, the General Staff said bullets of anti-aircraft guns had hit the watch tower of the Çamlıtepe military guard post in the border province of Hatay around 4:30 p.m. on May 30. It stated that Turkey had responded to Syria within the border rules of engagement. 

“The anti-aircraft guns’ bullets, which have bounced from the conflict between the regime and the opponents on the Syrian side of the border, have fallen inside our country. Three of the aforementioned bullets have hit the Çamlıtepe border guard post central watch tower. There has been no loss of life or property,” the statement, issued on May 31, read.
