Antalya Airport on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast hit an all-time high in passenger traffic on July 18, with 169,000 passengers taking off or landing via 1,012 airplanes throughout the day.“Antalya Airport served 169,000 passengers in 1,012 airplanes. I congratulate all 14,000 employees of the airport,” tweeted Osman Serdar, the Antalya head of the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ).
He added that this figure was the airport’s all-time high record.
Antalya Airport served 28 million passengers in 2014, a 4.7 percent increase compared to the previous year, according to DHMİ figures. The airport, however, saw traffic fall by 4.2 percent in the first six months of 2015, dropping to 10.5 million passengers. June 2015 saw a drop of 6.9 percent from last year to 3.6 million passengers, mainly due to the fall in the number of Russian tourists.
