Anatolia’s lost languages in magazine

Actual Archaeology Magazine’s 2014 Spring issue has been specially published in English, with a front page story titled “The Lost Languages of Anatolia.”

The 9th issue of the magazine Actual Archaeology Magazine-Anatolia, which is being published abroad in English, shows the world how Anatolia lead a multicultural and multilingual life thousands of years ago and how each language and the people speaking them had a right to live in this cultural richness.

The 9th issue “Lost Languages of Anatolia” presents a world in which bilingual and trilingual inscriptions existed and where a common language was adopted and used by all segments of society. There is a special reason behind the publication of the issue in English: The oldest known written sources related to the European (Indo-European) language family are found in Anatolia. Hittite, Phrygian and many other Anatolian languages have an Indo-European origin. Therefore, the magazine says it provides European readers with a window into their own history.
