AKP cleans viruses in nine years: Bağış
ISTANBUL- Hürriyet Daily News
‘We are trying to transform Turkey into a transparent country,’ Bağış says.
Turkish European Union Minister Egemen Bağış has likened Turkey to a computer, saying the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) had, in the last nine years, formatted Turkey’s hard drive to eradicate viruses.“We have formatted Turkey’s crashed computer and erased the viruses. Now we are opening the curtains which covered Turkey’s problems. We are trying to transform Turkey into a transparent country. All the problems occupying our hard disk were sent to the recycle bin and we’ll continue to do so,” Bağış said at the European Union Digital Agenda and Turkey Conference in Istanbul on April 21. Bağış also said those who tried to “hack Turkey’s democracy” will be accountable for their acts.
“No crime will remain without punishment in Turkey anymore, the ones who try to transmit viruses to our democracy will take the responsibility sooner or later.” Turkey has a strong anti-virus program for democracy-hackers, he added. “Now its time for installing a new software to Turkey’s computer. The name for that software is the ‘2012 civil constitution.’ We need a constitution to embrace everyone in Turkey.”
