Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdağ announced yesterday that Turkey has given over 2 billion dollars in humanitarian assistance to foreign countries in 2012.

Bozdağ’s remarks came during a presentation at an annual ambassadors’ conference of the Foreign Ministry. Bozdağ also called on Turkish ambassadors serving in foreign capitals to show sensitivity in promoting the use of the Turkish language by new generations of Turks living abroad. Bozdağ stressed that Turks abroad should not only learn the language of the country they reside in but their mother tongue as well.
