Actress Hülya Koçyiğit leads list of Presidential Award winners

The recipients of this year’s Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Awards were announced Oct. 29, with famous actress Hülya Koçyiğit leading the list of winners.

Koçyiğit took home the award in the field of cinema as Niyazi Sayın won in the field of music, Alev Alatlı was honored in literature and Professor Engin Akarlı was selected for history.

The award committee consisted of Presidential Secretary-General Fahri Kasırga; Deputy Presidential Secretary-General and Professor İbrahim Kalın; the president’s chief advisers Professor Mustafa İsen, Aydın Ünal and Savaş Barkçın; Culture and Tourism Ministry Undersecretary Professor Haluk Dursun and Yunus Emre Cultural Foundation Professor Hayati Develi. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan determined the recipients upon the suggestion of the committee.

The Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Awards are presented to honor Turkish and foreign citizens and enterprises that make contributions to Turkey’s culture and art.

The 2014 Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Awards ceremony will be held at the Presidential Beştepe Campus at a date to be announced later.
