Actor remembered at award ceremony

The award ceremony for the 17th Sadri Alışık Theater and Cinema awards was held recently, sending big name Turkish stage and screen actors and actresses home with coveted awards. The ceremony, held at Beşiktaş Akatlar Mustafa Kemal center, was hosted by Turkish TV show host and producer Okan Bayülgen.Award recipients were decided upon by a jury, which consisted of Atilla Dorsay, film critic and writer, Çolpan İlhan, Fehmi Yaşar, Filiz Akın, Ömür Gedik and Yavuz Bingöl.
The award for best actress went to Nazan Kesal for her role in the movie “Hair” (Saç) while best actor went to Yılmaz Erdoğan, Taner Birsel and Muhammed Uzuner in “Once upon a time in Anatolia” (Bir Zamanlar Anadoluda).
The best supporting actress award was presented to İdil Fırat for her character in the movie “Pomegranate” (Nar), while the best supporting actor award went to Kenan Ece from the film “Don’t Forget Me” (Beni Unutma).
Movies “The Fire” (Yangın Var) and “Entelköy vs. Efeköy” (Entelköy Efeköy’e karşı) also received awards for best actress in a comedy movie. The Ekrem Bora promising actor award was delivered to İbrahim Çelikkol for “The Conquest 1453” (Fetih 1453).
This year’s honor awards went to Ediz Hun and Selda Alkor.
The theater awards are chosen by a jury comprised of Cem Duygulu, Çolpan İlhan, Hami Çağdaş, Hasan Anamur, Osman Şengezer, Refika Sezik, Rengin Uz and Vecdi Sayar. The award for best theater actress went to Esra Bezen Bilgin.
The best theater actor went to Mert Tanık, while the best supporting actor and actress awards were delivered to Güliz Gençoğlu and Barış Gönenler, respectively.
The best actor in a musical theater play award went to Tülay Günal and Genco Erkal. The honor award in theater went to Müşfik Kenter.
