Abducted Hakkari AKP provincial chair released

AKP provincial head Abdülmecit Tarhan (C) was abducted by members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) around Hakkari’s Oğul village on Sept 2.
Justice and Development Party (AKP) Hakkari Provincial Chair Abdülmecit Tarhan, who was abducted by members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) around Hakkari’s Oğul village on Sept. 2, was released yesterday morning.Mazlum-Der Batman office head Murat Çiçek told Anatolia news agency that they formed had a board with Mazlum-Der and İHD members for the release of Tarhan, and the group entered northern Iraq through the Habur Border Gate in Şırnak’s Silopi district at around 9:00 a.m. yesterday and returned with Tarhan.
“We took Tarhan from the PKK members. His state of health is good, and we helped him meet his family. We set out to return to Turkey with Tarhan accompanying us. We will issue a statement on the incident in Silopi district today,” Çiçek said yesterday. Also mother of a soldier, Ramazan Başaran, who was allegedly kidnapped by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants on Aug. 6, has applied to a non-governmental organization) for release of his son. Meanwhile, two Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members were reportedly killed in a clash in the southeastern province of Siirt.
