A family living on the streets
The film, which is being screened under the festival category of “Each has a different color,” tells the story of Lucia and her 6-year-old daughter, Marussia, who live on the streets of Paris. Without a stable home, they sleep wherever they can amid wandering aimlessly during daytime. They spend their days waiting for something extraordinary to happen, as if each day is the day that will change their lives. As days go by and nothing seems to change, the Russian community suggests buying them tickets to Russia, yet Marussia fiercely opposes and abandons her mother. Marussia is stuck between returning to the unknown and living under the present circumstances.
Pervolovici said she based the story on a real-life encounter with the two. “As I got to know them little by little, I became more and more fascinated by them, for it was becoming clear to me that they were film characters.”
The film will be screened at 9 p.m. at the city’s Kızılırmak Theater.
