Some 82 migrants in four inflatable boats, in attempt to illegally reach the Greek island of Kos, have been captured by Coast Guard teams on Nov. 8.

The weather conditions and current, along with the high number of boat passengers, have raised risks during the journeys. Despite the risks, some boats and their passengers have survived the journey.

Some 27 migrants of Afghan and Myanmar origin took off from Akyarlar and Bitez seeking to cross over to Greece. The migrants were tossed about in three inflatable boats due to the sea’s currents. Coast Guard teams arrived at the scene and captured the migrants, bringing them to the Akyarlar Gendarmerie Command.

In another incident, some 55 Syrian migrants, including women and children, sailing in an eight-meter-long inflatable boat risked their lives due to weather conditions and their inadequate boats.

The migrants were captured and landed with the support of the Coast Guard. They were then brought to the Bodrum Foreigners’ Department.
