8 arrested for financing PKK
ANKARA - Hürriyet Daily News
Eight people suspected of financially supporting the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) have been arrested in Denmark, the Danish police said yesterday.Investigator Jens Moeller Jensen said a total of $24.6 million had been shipped from Denmark to the PKK, which is listed as a terrorist group by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU. He added that $11.8 million had been raised in the past three years alone among Kurds in Denmark. The arrests are linked to a court case in which a Kurdish television station ROJ TV, known as the mouthpiece of the PKK, was found guilty of breaching Denmark’s anti-terror laws. Those detained are aged between 27 and 71 and face preliminary charges of financially supporting a terror group.
