73 more air force personnel dismissed in coup attempt probe: Defense Ministry

ANKARA
A further 73 personnel from the Turkish Air Force have been dismissed from the army as part of the ongoing investigation into the Fetullahist Terror Organization (FETÖ), which has been accused of the failed coup attempt of July 15, the Defense Ministry announced Sept. 7.

“Seventy-three more military personnel from the Air Force Command were dismissed from the Turkish Armed Forces within the scope of the FETÖ investigation,” the ministry tweeted.

Some 66 of the dismissed personnel were military officers while the other seven were non-commissioned officers from the air force, according to the ministry.

The ministry also said the personnel were being dismissed with the utmost sensibility.

Last week, the ministry announced that 820 more military personnel from the land and naval forces had been dismissed from the armed forces.

More than 3,500 soldiers, including generals and admirals, were previously dismissed from the army in light of two state of emergency decrees issued after the failed seizure of government.
