5.0-magnitude earthquake strikes off Antalya coast

The epicenter of the earthquake was recorded in the Mediterranean Sea, 88.6 kilometers under the earth’s surface.
A 5.0-magnitude earthquake hit Antalya Bay off Turkey’s southern Mediterranean coast earlier today, the Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute at Istanbul’s Boğaziçi University has said.The temblor caused no human loss or material damage, according to initial observations, officials said.
The epicenter of the earthquake was recorded in the Mediterranean Sea, 88.6 kilometers under the earth’s surface. Tremors were felt in Antalya’s city center along with its eastern districts of Serik, Manavgat and Alanya, as well as in Anamar and Mersin further east along the Mediterranean coast.
The quake caused some panic in Antalya as a number of residents rushed outside after feeling the tremors.
