33rd International Istanbul Book Fair is around the corner

ISTANBUL

Hungary will be the Guest of Honor in the International Hall of this year's Istanbul Book Fair.

The 33rd International Istanbul Book Fair will be held between Nov. 8 and 16 at the TÜYAP Fair and Convention Center, organized by TÜYAP Fairs in partnership with the Publishers Association of Turkey.

The theme for this year's fair will be “100 Years of Turkish Cinema” in celebration of the centennial of Turkish cinema. The Book Fair's Advisory Board has also named doyenne writer and film critic Atilla Dorsay as its Writer of Honor.

A number of panel discussions and other events will be held with Dorsay throughout the event at the TÜYAP Fair and Convention Center in the Büyükçekmece district of Istanbul. A book and an exhibition on both his life and his selected works will also be presented.

Hungary will be the Guest of Honor in the International Hall of the fair between Nov. 8 and 11, with classic and contemporary works of Hungarian literature, culture and arts presented to Turkish visitors.

New in the Fair: ‘Music’ and ‘Cuisine’

As this year’s theme is dedicated to cinema, visitors will also be greeted at the site with the soundtracks of unforgettable Turkish films.

Another new aspect of the Istanbul Book Fair this year will be “Cuisine,” which will be open between Nov. 8 and 11 in the International Hall. This will include interactive cooking shows and talks with gourmet writers, including famous Hungarian cooking show host and writer Zsofia Mautner.

The 33rd International Istanbul Book Fair is set to be held concurrently with the 24th Istanbul Art Fair-ARTIST 2014.
