The first commercial Dreamliner to operate at Sabiha Gökçen Airport arrives in Istanbul with a water cannon salute.

Azerbaijan Airlines’ inaugural flight, the first commercial Dreamliner to operate at Sabiha Gökçen Airport, was welcomed with a water cannon salute on its arrival on Feb. 4, the company said through a press release Feb. 5.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, an all-new super-efficient airplane, was launched by Boeing Commercial Airplanes in 2004. The Dreamliner features a suite of new technologies and its revolutionary design, with composite materials making up 50 percent of the primary structure of the 787, including the fuselage and wing.

It provides airlines with unmatched fuel efficiency, resulting in exceptional environmental performance, using 20 percent less fuel than today’s similarly sized airplanes. Passengers can also enjoy significant on-board improvements from an interior environment with higher humidity to more comfort and convenience, said the company.
