13 police officers detained in fresh operation over fraud claims

Some 13 police officers were detained on Sept. 22 as a part of an operation by the Ankara Police Financial Crimes Department concerning “irregularity in bonuses.”The Ankara police have launched the operation against the officers who were on duty before the Dec. 17, 2013 corruption probe, on charges of causing loss to the government through fraudulent bonuses.
The Ankara Public Prosecutors’ Office has ruled for the detention of 17 officers, 13 of whom have been taken into custody so far.
