13 ISIL militants killed in Turkish shelling in northern Syria

The building used by ISIL militants collapsed, killing 13 militants inside and injuring another seven. Around 150 Katyusha rocket projectiles stored on the ground floor of the building were also destroyed.

Eleven ISIL militants were also killed after reconnaissance vehicles spotted two missile launchers ready for attack in Duwaibik, 12 kilometers from the border and 26 kilometers from the center of Turkey’s southeastern province of Kilis on April 26. While Turkish artillery units at the border destroyed the launchers, they also killed 11 ISIL militants.

Katyusha rockets fired from the ISIL-controlled region in northern Syria into Kilis have claimed 17 lives since January, with the latest attack on April 24 killing two people.

Meanwhile, eight suspected members of ISIL were detained in an operation in Turkey’s southern province of Antalya on April 26.

Counter-terrorism police conducted simultaneous operations on various addresses, detaining eight suspects. The suspects were taken to Antalya Security General Directorate as operations continued.

In the Central Anatolian province of Konya, two Syrian-origin ISIL suspects, who were detained in an operation for allegedly arriving at the city for a “suicide attack” targeting statesmen on April 23, were arrested. Nine suspects detained in Konya were released on probation.
