13 ISIL militants killed in northern Syria

ANKARA
At least 13 militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) have been killed by coalition airstrikes and clashes with the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in northern Syria, the Turkish Armed Forces said on Nov. 5.

Aircraft from the U.S.-led anti-ISIL coalition killed eight militants in five strikes in northern Syria, the statement said without giving a more precise location. It added that jets also destroyed three defensive emplacements around villages it named as Bolayqah and Ash Shudud.

The raids happened up to 7 a.m. local time on Nov. 5, the military added.

Fighting between ISIL and the FSA saw five ISIL militants killed and six FSA fighters died on Nov. 4, the statement added, again without giving a location.

Turkey launched Operation Euphrates Shield in late August to clear Syria's northern border area. The operation has seen the Turkish military support the FSA with special forces, airstrikes, artillery and tanks.
