MUĞLA
Caught 16 days after the attempt and interrogated for 17 days, the group led by commander Şükrü Seymen have been sent to court for arrest.
While 25 out of the 37 were previously arrested during operations, the remaining 11 – identified as Enes Yılmaz, Ergün Şahin, İsmail Yiğit, Mehmet Demir, Muhammet Burak İpek, Murat Köse, Şükrü Seymen, Bahadır Sagun, Mehmet Öztürk, Mustafa Serdar Özay and Muammer Gözübüyük - were found later on July 31 in the Ula district of Muğla after a wide-scale search by security teams.
The soldiers had raided Erdoğan’s hotel during the failed military coup attempt, with three helicopters taking off from the Çiğli Air Base in the western province of İzmir. The president had left the hotel shortly before the soldiers arrived, but they engaged in an armed clash with security forces at the site and later fled to a nearby forest.
