A continuation of Russia’s violations of Turkish air space would be considered a “threat” to the country, Justice and Development Party (AKP) spokesperson Ömer Çelik has said.

“Russia is a friendly country, not an enemy. But if the violations continue, we will consider them a threat and we will do whatever is necessary to eliminate them,” Çelik told reporters on Oct. 7.

He also described Russia’s proposal for a meeting to give an explanation for the recent violations as “positive.”
