Airline, local insurance provider ink agreement

Turkish Airlines signed an agreement with local insurance provider Güneş Sigorta yesterday to cover its fleet of nearly 200 aircraft, 16,000 employees and passengers for the next four-year period, according to a Turkish Airlines’ press release.Turkish Airlines Assistant General Manager Coşkun Kılıç said they were very pleased with the new partnership, which will allow the airline to provide its customers with even better service and add to the airline’s level of productivity.
Turkish Airlines also announced yesterday that beginning in March 2012 it would increase the number of its destinations in Russia from seven to eight. Since 2005, the airline has been servicing seven Russian destinations, and the city of Novosibirsk is soon to be added to the airline’s repertoire, according to Turkish Airlines Russia Director Mefail Deribaş.
In 2011, the airline carried 32.6 million passengers. This is a 12.1 percent increase from the 29.1 million passengers the airline carried the year before, according to the airline’s announcement to the Istanbul Stock Exchange (İMKB).
Turkish Airlines operates scheduled services to 146 international and 41 domestic cities (38 domestic airports).
