Afyonkarahisar Jazz Festival opening made with TÜRKAY musicians

The 13th Afyonkarahisar Jazz Festival opened last night and will continue until June 9. This year the festival started with Turkish Harmony Stars Orchestras (TÜRKAY)”

The festival’s opening took place in Millet Hamam. TÜRKAY orchestra’s conductor Tarık Tal was accompanied by Czech vocalists Andrea Hrbackova and Barbora Smejkovalova, alongside Burcu Güleç and Ayşe Gencer from Turkey. They performed famous jazz songs for the audience. The festival will be continuing at Millet Hamam Garden and also at AFİUM Entertainment Center.

During the festival, musicians will be giving workshops during the day and will hold discussions with the students and music lovers while at night they will be performing concerts.

Festival Arts Director Hüseyin Başkadem said that for one week Afyonkarahisar would be full of jazz. “This year we are organizing the festivals with the support of the Tourism and Culture ministry and we are hosting famous jazz players in the city.”
