A statement by Hürriyet

Turkey’s mainstream daily Hürriyet, the parent paper of Hürriyet Daily News, released the following statement after the article of Yılmaz Özdil, one of its columnists, was not published in the August 15 edition:

“A number of remarks in the recent column of our writer Yılmaz Özdil were in violation of the Doğan Publishing Principles, such as their use of demeaning language. However, Özdil chose not to have his column printed, rather than have it edited. We share this information with our readers.”
