98 prisoners rushed to hospital after insecticide poisoning in Turkey’s Adıyaman

A total of 98 prisoners were rushed to the hospital in the southeastern province of Adıyaman after suspected poisoning from insecticide late on Jan. 9.
The incident occurred in a jail in Adıyaman’s Musalla neighborhood. Following an insecticide treatment in the kitchen of the jail, some prisoners entered the kitchen despite a sign warning them not to enter the kitchen.
After a while, some prisoners became ill. First, the sick prisoners were taken under treatment in the prison’s infirmary. After the number of sick prisoners began to increase, ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
Sixty-eight prisoners were rushed to the Adıyaman Training and Research Hospital hospital after suffering from dizziness and nausea.
After that, 30 prisoners were also taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Officials at the hospital stated that the general condition of the prisoners is stable, adding that a large number of them were discharged from the hospital after their treatment.
An investigation has been opened into the incident.
