897 militants 'neutralized' so far in Afrin op
ANKARA – Anadolu Agency
A total of 897 People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the Islamic State, Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants have been "neutralized" since the beginning of Operation Olive Branch in Syria's Afrin region on Jan. 20, according to the Turkish General Staff on Feb. 3.
Turkish authorities often use the word "neutralized" in their statements to imply the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.
In a statement, the military added the Turkish Armed Forces had destroyed 15 targets and neutralized 74 militants in overnight airstrikes.
On Jan. 20, Turkey launched Operation Olive Branch to clear YPG and ISIL militants from Afrin, northwestern Syria.
