68 PKK militants killed across Turkey in last week: Ministry

A total of 68 outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants were killed across Turkey over the last week, the Interior Ministry said on Nov. 6.
Turkish security forces also captured six PKK militants and six more surrendered to security forces.
Turkish forces conducted 1,476 operations against terrorist organizations between Oct. 30 and Nov. 6, the ministry statement added.
A total of 974 suspects were detained over alleged links to terrorist organizations such as the PKK, Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) and other organizations.
In just over 2,500 anti-narcotics operations across 77 Turkish provinces, security forces seized drugs, smuggled tobacco and fuel. A total of 3,350 suspects were detained on smuggling charges during these operations, according to the statement.
As part of cybersecurity operations, legal action was taken against 169 people.
In a crackdown on illegal migration, 3,670 undocumented migrants, including 943 in Turkish waters, were held while 135 suspects who allegedly aided them were detained, the statement added.
Meanwhile, one PKK militant was killed in the eastern province of Bitlis, the regional governor’s office said on Nov. 6.
Officers from Bitlis’s Gendarmerie Regional Command killed the militant near the Yeşilsırt village early on Nov. 5.
One M-16 infantry rifle, two hand grenades and a walkie-talkie were seized during the operation.
The statement added counterterrorism operations would continue to maintain peace and security.
