50,000 people march with 1,919-meter-long Turkish flag
SAMSUN
Some 50,000 people marched holding a 1,919-meter-long Turkish flag in Samsun on May 14, marking the Koç Sports Fest (KSF) in the northern part of the city.
The finals of the sports festival were held in the city on May 13-14. About 5,000 athletes and trainers who had come to the city for the KSF also participated in the march.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of when Mustafa Kemal Ataürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, arrived in Samsun to launch the War of Independence on May 19, 1919.
