4.9-magnitude earthquake hits Turkey’s Bodrum

4.9-magnitude earthquake hits Turkey’s Bodrum A 4.9-magnitude earthquake hit the Aegean resort of Bodrum early on Aug. 8, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).

The quake occurred at a depth of around 9 kilometers at 10.42 a.m., AFAD stated. 

According to the Kandilli Observatory and the U.S. Geological Survey, the magnitude of the quake was 5.3. 

The quake follows an earlier 4.3-magnitude and 4.1 magnitude quake in the nearby Gökova Bay.

It also comes less than three weeks after Bodrum was rattled by a 6.6-magnitude earthquake.
