412 detained in PKK/KCK operations in one day: Interior ministry

A total of 412 people have been detained in operations carried out against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party/ Kurdistan Communities’ Union (PKK/KCK) in 21 provinces, the Interior Ministry said April 13.The detentions were carried out on April 12 and a number of weapons, ammunition and PKK-linked documents were confiscated in the operations, according to the ministry.
Meanwhile, curfews were imposed on a total of 14 villages in the Lice, Kocaköy and Hazro districts of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır to conduct the security operations.
The Diyarbakır Governor’s Office on April 13 said the operation aims to apprehend militants in the villages and forestland as well as destroy PKK’s shelters, depots and anti-aircraft positions.
Elsewhere, a hand-made explosive placed by PKK militants on a road between the southeastern province of Hakkari and the eastern province of Van was found and later detonated under control.
According to the Hakkari Governor’s Office, the explosive was found on April 12 in a spot used by the security forces.
