3,991 militants 'neutralized' in Turkey's Afrin op
ANKARA – Anadolu Agency
A total of 3,991 militants have been "neutralized" since the start of Operation Olive Branch in Syria's northwestern Afrin region, the Turkish General Staff said in a statement on April 7.
Turkish authorities often use the word "neutralized" in their statements to imply that the militants in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.
On Jan. 20, Turkey launched Operation Olive Branch to clear YPG militants from Afrin, northwestern Syria.
A total of 108 PKK militants were "neutralized" in Turkey's southeastern and eastern provinces of Mardin, Tunceli, Diyarbakır, Şırnak and northern Iraq between March 31 and April 6, the Turkish military said on April 7.
