20 years in prison for Molotov

A chief prosecutor in the southern province of Adana requested 20 years in prison for a 15-year-old who allegedly threw Molotov cocktails at law enforcement officers in May and September of 2010.The suspect, who was arrested Nov. 18, is charged with “attempted murder by torching” and “armed battery against an officer on duty,” daily Sabah reported.
The suspect, identified only by his initials Ş.B., 15, hurled a Molotov cocktail at officer M.Y., also only identified by his initials, at the Şakirpaşa Police Headquarters on May 4, 2010, causing him injury, the chief prosecutor’s indictment said.
A group of people including Ş.B. harassed students from the Şakirpaşa Primary School on Sept. 30, 2010, the indictment said. A police team was eventually dispatched to the scene and persuaded the group to disperse. Suspect Ş.B. said “I wounded you before, this time I will kill you” and returned 10 minutes later with Molotov cocktails with which he attacked police, according to the indictment.
The indictment also referred to a report prepared by the Adana Forensics Institute implicating the suspect was aware of the legal meaning and repercussions of his actions.
