20 KCK suspects detained

Some 20 people were detained in the eastern province of Siirt yesterday, including Necat Yılmaz, the mayor of Kurtalan district, as part of the ongoing Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) trials.Nearly 500 people gathered before the municipality building during the operation to protest the raid.
Meanwhile, a group from the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) submitted petitions to Ankara’s public prosecutor, claiming they had committed the same illegal act. The BDP’s Ankara provincial head Ahmet Aday issued a press statement on behalf of the group. BDP members numbering 7,748 have been detained, while another 3,894 were arrested as part of the KCK operations, he claimed.
