This year the 12th Alanya Tourism Festival is hosting Latvia its country of honor. The festival’s opening ceremony was held at the Alanya Culture Center on May 26.The festival began with a parade that marched through Alanya’s streets and celebrated Latvia’s presence as honored guests of the festival. Performing arts groups entertained parade-goers with music, song and traditional dance. The crowd was also teated to traditional foods.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Culture and Tourism Ministry’s Deputy Minister Abrudrrahman Arıcı, Alanya Mayor Hasan Sipahioğlu, and Turkey Bicycle Federation President Emin Müftüoğlu. Performing arts groups, which perfumed music, folklore dances at the parade.
The Alanya festival will host exhibitions and programs highlighting Talsi, Latvia, as a tourist destination. Special animated shows have been created for the festival, focusing on Latvia. The festival continues until May 29.
