101 sought over investigation into police exam
The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on May 29 issued detention warrants for 101 suspects as part of an investigation into an exam conducted in 2011 for applicant police officers to become deputy police chiefs, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
Upon the warrants, police detained some 56 suspects in simultaneous operations in 43 provinces across Turkey and took them to police stations to testify.
Some of the suspects are reported to have already been dismissed from their positions through state of emergency decree laws, while others had been temporarily suspended.
In addition to the sought 101 individuals, 22 suspects who took the same police examination in 2011 are already in jail due the an ongoing investigation looking into their alleged involvement in the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ).
