The center is also offering a new jewelry design course.
During the summer period, the Sabancı Foundation’s Turkey’s Changemakers program continues to share the unique stories of extraordinary people who contribute to social development.Having established the Melek Erman Köni Education and Cultural Center in Esenler which is a town of mainly migrant families in İstanbul, Melek Erman Köni’s story was first shared on Turkey’s Changemakers program in 2010. The center offers many programs, including literacy, urban-life orientation courses for adults and preschool education for children.
Now, with the support of AÇEV (Mother Child Education Foundation), Melek Erman Köni continues to expand its work for more than 3,200 migrant women living in İstanbul.
Thanks to the Sabancı Foundation’s Turkey’s Changemakers Program, preparation courses for the university exam are also organized at the Melek Erman Köni Education and Cultural Center. The volunteers of “Life in May Cooperative” which is also among the Sabancı Foundation’s Turkey’s Changemakers, have been offering university preparation courses to students since July 2012.
The center is also offering a new jewelry design course and free dental health screenings have started. To date, 260 volunteers have helped in the activities at the Melek Erman Köni Education and Cultural Center.
