Turkey should immediately recall ambassador to UAE after FM’s remarks: CHP head
Rifat Başaran - ANKARA
Ankara should immediately withdraw its ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) until the country’s foreign minister apologizes for his remarks accusing Fahreddin Pasha, a Medina governor and commander of the Ottoman Empire during the First World War, of “ransacking” Medina in 1916, main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has said.
“This is utter impertinence. Turkey should immediately withdraw its ambassador and lower its relations to the minimum level until the minister apologizes. This should turn into an action beyond responding just with words or criticisms and the ambassador should be recalled to Turkey,” Kılıçdaroğlu said during a meeting with reporters in the capital on Dec. 21.
