Turkey issues detention warrants for FETÖ suspects, including ‘on-duty military personnel’

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued detention warrants on Feb. 20 for 170 people over suspected links to the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

The warrants came as part of an Istanbul-based investigation in 38 provinces across Turkey against FETÖ suspects. Some of the suspects are on-duty military personnel, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media.

FETÖ and its United States-based leader, Fethullah Gülen, are widely believed to have orchestrated the July 15, 2016 coup attempt, which left 250 people killed and nearly 2,200 injured.
