Supreme Court plotted against AKP, health minister claims

Turkish Health Minister Mehmet Müezzinoğlu diagnosed the Supreme Court as “the main element of a structure which plotted against the ruling party,” and implied that they will not vote for the four ministers to be tried before the Supreme Court due to the graft allegations in a recent interview.

“I see it as the main element,” Müezzinoğlu said, responding to a question about whether he sees the Supreme Court as part of a system which plotted against the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).  “We survived the Constitutional Court by one vote in 2008, despite getting 48 percent of the votes in the elections. We did not survive it; the political party which received 47 percent of the votes survived it, though not completely survived as we received the monetary penalty. Can public conscious regard it as a Supreme Court anymore? Did public conscious approve the Supreme Court’s decision? If they did, then we would not get 50 percent of the votes [in the elections],” Müezzinoğlu said in an interview published on HaberTürk on Jan. 4.
