Turkish zoo names cute rodent ‘Trump’
A zoo in the southern Turkish province of Antalya has named a coypu, which is a large, herbivorous, semiaquatic rodent, as “Trump.” Click through for the story in photos...
Officials of Antalya municipality’s zoo said visitors likened the coypu to United States President Donald Trump due to its orange fur.
Trump the coypu has been in the Antalya zoo for the past eight months.
“A citizen donated this animal to our zoo. It has been a source of attraction since its first day here. It is a rodent, but a cute one,” veterinarian Aygül Arsun said.
Experts also warn, however, that the coypu’s destructive feeding and burrowing behaviors make this invasive species’ endurance controversial to human occupants throughout most of its range.
