Qatar Emir gifts Turkey’s Erdoğan Boeing 747-8 aircraft
Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has presented a Boeing 747-8 as a present to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, according to a report published on Sept. 13 by Turkey’s state-run broadcaster TRT Haber. Click through for the story in photos...
The gift was a symbol of “Thani’s love for Erdoğan,” the report said, adding that the aircraft was a special design with “VIP equipment.”
The Boeing 747-8 is worth around $400 million. It can normally carry 400 passengers but the gifted airplane is a customized version for 70 people.
The Qatari emir’s plane landed at Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen airport and joined Turkey’s presidential aircraft fleet, the report said.
During his visit to the capital Ankara last month, the emir had said Qatar would make a $15 billion direct investment in Turkey. Click through for more photos from the commercial version of the aircraft...
