The wall, which was built for a construction site to support nearby buildings on higher elevations, collapsed in the district of Üsküdar on Istanbul’s Asian side on July 30.
The road adjacent to the wall also collapsed, taking down at least three cars with it. No casualties were initially reported.
A worker at the construction site told Demirören News Agency the cars were parked next to the wall despite warnings that they were not allowed to park there.
“The wall collapsed after an explosion of the transformer here,” he added.
Authorities launched an investigation into the incident, which came after torrential rains in the district.
Torrential rains in Istanbul triggered a landslide in the Sütlüce neighborhood on July 24, after construction work damaged a retaining wall, leading to the collapse of an empty apartment building.
