The wedding took place in the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa on Aug. 26.
Celal Geçgel, who is the son of a leading member of the Shedadi tribe, married Yasemin Özdemir from the Dinay tribe.
According to Demirören News Agency, nearly 2,000 guests who attended the ceremony gifted the couple a total of 3 kg of gold and golden accessories, which were worth more than $116,000.
The wedding at the Cumhuriyet complex in Şanlıurfa was also attended by members of the Kurdish problem-focused Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) as well as Iraqi-Kurdish businessmen.
