Parliament approves legislation to recruit 100,000 contracted public workers as civil servants

A legal provision allowing around 100,000 contracted public workers to be recruited as civil servants has been approved by the Turkish Parliament during a late voting session today on an "omnibus bill."

The new legislation will affect mostly health personnel and employees working at local administrations.

Other contracted personnel mostly working in technical divisions of the central institution buildings in Ankara will also benefit from the legal provision.

According to the legislation, all the personnel will be integrated into civil servant status as of the date the bill enters in force.
