Oil flow to Turkey via Iraqi pipe route halts
ANKARA - Reuters
The oil flow has halted at the Kirkuk-Ceyhan pipeline carrying crude oil from Iraq to Turkey March 26, but an energy official said the flow would be restored as of last night.“Turkey has not been informed about the reason of the halt, but Iraqi officials said the flow would restart by yesterday evening,” the Turkish official told Reuters.
A representative of Iraqi North Oil Company has said a leak has started on previous day at a part of pipe which needs to be renewed. Official said they’re working on replacing the old part with new one.
Meanwhile, the oil export has not been affected by the flow cut. Given the oil’s origin from Iraq, occasionally the pipeline’s oil flow is interrupted by sabotage blasts or similar incidents.
