Gül to immediately leave Ankara after Erdoğan inauguration ceremony

Outgoing President Abdullah Gül will leave Ankara and depart for Istanbul, where he plans to reside in the near future, after the inauguration ceremony for President-elect Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Aug. 28.Meanwhile, Ahmet Davutoğlu, the new chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and thus the incoming prime minister, will bid farewell to his Foreign Ministry colleagues on Aug. 28. He will then head to Parliament for the president’s inauguration ceremony.
President-elect Erdoğan will receive Davutoğlu at 20:00 p.m on Aug. 28 to hand over the Prime Ministry by proxy and appoint him to form a new government. The new prime minister is expected to present his Cabinet on Aug. 29.
