Galatasaray beats Olympiacos to get first win in Top 16

Galatasaray Medical Park overcame a miraculous buzzer-beater by Kostas Sloukas to beat Olympiacos in overtime in a Turkish Airlines Euroleague game on Jan. 26.

Galatasaray got its first win in the Group E of the Top 16 stage of the competition with a 78-77 victory, but the win came the hard way.

After Olympiacos rallied to come back from a 14-point deficit, Sloukas buried a 14-meter shot from beyond midcourt to send the game to overtime, 69-69.

“About the three pointer I score at the buzzer, it was a miraculous moment for me. I did not have time to think about anything. I lifted my head, saw the time and throw the ball and said a prayer. I think god wanted me to score,” Sloukas was quoted as saying in the official website of Euroleague. “But in the overtime it was not the same. God thought the other way.” Jamon Gordon led the winners with 17 points against his former team. k HDN
