The Netherlands Embassy has hosted a contract signing ceremony for the upcoming first complete Englishguide to Ankara for tourists, “Ankara Tourist Guide,” written by two foreigners residing in the city.
A reception was hosted by the Ambassador Jan Paul Dirkse, who is in the last days of his post in Turkey, where the details of the book was presented. The guide, written by Hein-Jan Keijzer and Ilse Naves-Scheidel, will soon be published by the Arkadaş Publishers.
Scheidel described their reason for writing the book as the need for foreigners to see through another foreigner’s eyes in order to really learn their way around the city.
“The guide’s set-up is unique as it describes the city by area. Not only pointing out the highlights but also giving background information about the area and its highlights.
Also an introduction about Turkish manners and how to get around in the city is given, as well as a
concise history of Ankara throughout the years,” the description of the guide read.
