Erdoğan speaks to Putin on phone over Syria

ANKARA

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Nov. 25, one day after four Turkish soldiers were killed in a Syrian regime air strike in Syria’s north.  

Erdoğan and Putin exchanged views on the attack on Turkish soldiers, while also agreeing to speed up efforts to find a solution to the humanitarian crisis in Aleppo, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

During the conversation, Erdoğan reportedly reiterated that Ankara "supported Syria territorial integrity" with the Euphrates Shield operation in northern Syria.

The two leaders also voiced their determination to support the normalization process between Turkey and Russia. Accordingly, they also touched on Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım's upcoming visit to Moscow on Dec. 6 and the High-Level Russian-Turkish Cooperation Council’s meeting, which will be held in the first half of 2017.
