Driver detained for carrying daughter tied to back of car in central Turkey
ÇANKIRI
A minibus driver has been detained for carrying his daughter tied to the back of his car in central Turkey.
The incident was recorded recently by a passenger in another car in Çankırı’s Yaylakent district and became one of the most watched videos on Turkish social media this week.
Social media users called on officials to penalize the driver of the vehicle, which carries the Istanbul-registered license plate 34 RA 4649.
The driver, identified as İdris K., was detained on Aug. 28, according to local media reports.
"My daughter is 13 years old. She loves to travel like that," he reportedly told the police, adding that he drove his car --with the girl tied on the back-- for some 700 meters at the speed of 15-20 kilometers per hour.
